The Kronos 480 Timekeeper Clock Tutorial
In this Kronos tutorial, you will learn how to use your badge and function keys, and understand the display indicators. Click on the image below to see the specific topics.

Using Your Badge:
Swiping Your Badge:
- Hold your ID badge so that the bar code symbol is facing away from you
- Position the badge into the slot on the right side of the terminal faceplate
- In a steady motion, slide your badge down through the reader
- Type in your badge number using the number keys
- Press the ENTER key to save the swipe
Entering Your "In" or "Out" Time Without Using a Badge:
- Press the asterisk (*) key
- Type in your badge number using the number keys
- Press the ENTER key to save the swipe
How do I Know if My Swipe Was Accepted?
- You will hear only one beep from the terminal
- The top light on the terminal will turn green

If Your Swipe Was Not Accepted?
- An error message will be displayed on LCD panel, rather than your name or badge number
- You will hear a series of three beeps
- The middle light on the terminal will turn amber

Employee-Specific Keys:
These F-keys allow you to review information that pertains to your punches, hours worked, and schedule.
To use the F-keys:
- Press the corresponding F-KEY
- Swipe your badge when the terminal displays the words "Enter Badge." You will have three seconds to swipe before the clock resets
- Press the CLEAR key after your swipe is accepted
F1- Review Punches:
This shows any punches you have made at THIS clock in the previous 72 hours. The oldest punch made during this period is displayed first.

- Wait until the word "Badge" is displayed on the timekeeper terminal
- Swipe badge
- Use the NEXT and PREVIOUS keys to scroll through the list
- Press the CLEAR key when finished
Activity Keys:
Activity Keys are used to record and post your time to specific types of shifts, such as call-ins and holidays worked. By using the proper key, the system will record your time in the appropriate pay type and apply any minimum paid hour policies. To record your your time to a specific activity, press the appropriate F-KEY. This will cause the terminal to display the activity type. When the terminal displays the words "Enter Badge," you can swipe your badge.

F7 - Court
When you are clocking in for court time, press the F7 key befpre swiping your badge. Do not swipe your badge until the words "Enter Badge" are displayed on the timekeeper terminal.

F8 - Emergency Callback
In the event that you are called back to work, press the F8 key before swiping your badge to ensure that the time is considered callback, and that callback policies are applied, such as minimum paid hours. Do not swipe your badge until the words "Enter Badge" are displayed on the timekeeper terminal.

F10 - Holiday Worked @ 1.0x + Comp @ 1.5x
When you are working on a holiday, and want your hours to be paid at your base wage and earn comp time at 1.5x, press the F10 key before swiping your badge. Do not swipe your badge until the words "Enter Badge" are displayed on the timekeeper terminal.

F11 - Holiday Worked @ 1.5x + Holiday Pay @ 1.0x
When you are working on a holiday, and you want your hours to be paid at 1.5x base, and you elect to take the straight time holiday pay in addition to the 1.5x base rate for hours worked, press the F11 key before swiping your badge. Do not swipe your badge until the words "Enter Badge" are displayed on the timekeeper terminal.

# - Employee Record # - Job Record/ Cost Center Transfer
Use the number key (#) to tell the system that you are working temporarily for a non-default Employee ID-job record or cost center. This key will prompt you for the "Employee Record #-Job Record Number" and then the "Cost Center Number."

To perform a Cost Center/Job Record Transfer:
- Press the # key.
- The terminal will then display "Employee Record # - Job Record"
- Key in the Job Record Number for the job into which you are transferring (you may type "000" for job 000, "001" for job 001, or "002" for job 002 etc.)
- Press the ENTER key
- The terminal will display the Employee Record#/Job Record into which you have transferred
- Next, the terminal will display "Cost Center"
- Key in the number for the cost center into which you are transferring
- Press the ENTER key
- The terminal will display the cost center into which you have transferred
- After a few seconds, the terminal will automatically display the words "Enter Badge"
- Swipe the ID badge
- Press the CLEAR key after your swipe is accepted

Your name or badge ID number | Your Name or Badge Number will be displayed on the LCD panel. If the terminal you are swiping is your home terminal, your name will be displayed. If the terminal is not your home (default) terminal, your badge number will be displayed. Kronos Dept Reps decide whether employees use the home terminal feature.
