Employee Benefit Rates
Here pay reps and other individuals with responsibility for managing accounts that incur salary and benefits charges may find information about benefit recovery rates charges to these accounts.
Cornell charges accounts for the cost of employer - or State - provided benefits based on average "pooled" rates rather than specific charges for a particular individual's benefit costs. Students, when registered and appointed to student positions, are exempt from benefit charges.
Endowed college benefit rates are developed by staff from the Division of Financial Affairs. Office of Human Resources, and the Division of Planning and Budget. The application of a particular rate is based on the abject code. The contract college rate is established by State of New York with a small additional component for Cornell-provided benefits. Contract college benefit charges are associated with a particular certain externally-funded activities. Benefit rates are approved by the federal government as a condition of being charged against sponsored funds.
